Gypsies causing trouble in France too

Italy is not the only country where new arrivals from Romania and Bulgaria are causing trouble. In Marseille, there is a big gypsy camp and the inhabitants of it live in squalor, many of them involved in petty crime. As in Italy, they have been the object of much hostility and even physical attacks, especially after the rumour spread (precisely as it did in various parts of Italy too) that the gypsies were trying to steal children. Most of the violence comes from the Arabs who already live in this part of Marseilles. [Luc Leroux, Le Monde, 13 August 2008]
